You may have by now heard of the wonderful weight loss benefits of adding hot peppers to your diet, but did you also know that is great for a host of other ailments too?  Capsaicin, the natural chemical in peppers that make them hot is clinically proven to relieve headaches and inflammation of the sinuses and is now thought to be the key to a healthy heart.

For years doctors have been prescribing small daily doses of Aspirin to aid the prevention of heart disease.  However, now some studies have shown that hot peppers to be even more effective Aspirin.  The Capsaicin in hot peppers is proven to increase circulatory blood flow preventing the abnormal clotting that causes heart attacks and strokes.

Other studies on gastrointestinal disease found that Capsaicin increases blood flow to the stomach which in turn stimulates the production of digestive juices.  In Latin America, there are unusually low rates of gastric and colon cancer.  Many researchers believe this to be directly linked to the high intake of Capsaicin through diet in this area.  It is also found to protect the stomach from damage caused by alcohol.

Red pepper is a boon to anyone with rheumatoid arthritis and Cayenne will reduce blood sugar levels, lower cholesterol and guard against colds and flu.
